In 2020, I was very much in a transitional phase of my life. In the midst of a pandemic, my family and I relocated to Florida, and shortly after I became pregnant with my second child. I found myself rebuilding the pieces of our lives in a place where we barely knew anyone. 

In trying to make our new place feel like home, I started shopping, decorating, and finished off with a few new candles. However, this was the first time that I not only questioned how often I was purchasing candles, but the quality of the candles that my family and I were breathing. It dawned on me...I could probably make these on my own?... 

I researched a variety of waxes, fragrances, vessels, and different methods on how to make clean candles from scratch. I purchased a DIY candle making kit, and once I started making them, the process felt so therapeutic. The experimenting and testing of different non-toxic waxes and scents, playing with the numbers to see what formula worked best, and ultimately knowing that I was creating a candle that I could thoroughly enjoy. I could set a relaxing atmosphere knowing that the air we breathed in our home remained clean. 

At 20 weeks, we found out we were having a girl! I have this ongoing repository of baby names that I've always kept as if I would have 37 babies, so I already had my girl and boy names ready! I fell in love with the name Chari- as it is a piece of my name and also felt simplistic and elegant. My husband isn't a fan of "Jr." or "II" for our kids, so we decided to craft a different name for her together! However, the name Chari still held a special place in my mind. 

Fast forward to month 7 of my pregnancy. We had purchased our new home and were all settled in for baby girl's arrival. I still felt the connection to making candles and couldn't wait to start back. I also knew that I couldn't be the only person who wanted clean products in their home that they could also easily access. At that moment, I created Chari Candle Co. 

My name is Charittey, Owner and Maker of Chari Candle Co. The brand was created to embrace every important moment in life. Aromatherapy has been vital in many lives through celebrations, home cleaning, and mental health elevation. Candle making has paved a way to pass a legacy of self-care and relaxation through generations.

Our Candles are handcrafted using high-quality Natural Coconut Apricot Wax, Cotton Wicks, and infused with clean fragrance oils. We also offer home fragrances that are flame-free, including our Wax Melts, Room & Linen Sprays, and Reed Diffusers.
